Another One Gone...

Paul Daniel "'Ace" The Spaceman Frehley

 ( April 27, 1951 – October 16, 2025)

was an American

musician who

 was the original

lead guitarist,

 occasional

lead vocalist,

and founding member

of the rock band

 Kiss

He invented the persona of

 The Spaceman

 (a.k.a. Space Ace

and played with the group

 from its inception in 1973

 until his departure in 1982.

After leaving Kiss,

Frehley formed his own band

 named

 Frehley's Comet

and released two albums

 with the group.

He subsequently embarked

 on a solo career,

which was put on hold

when he rejoined Kiss

in 1996

for a highly successful

reunion tour.

Frehley's second tenure

with Kiss lasted

 until 2002,

when he left at

 the conclusion of what

was originally purported

 to be the band's

farewell tour.

His most recent

solo studio album,

Origins Vol. 3

was released in 2025.

Guitar World magazine

 ranked him as

 the 14th

 Greatest Metal Guitarist

 of All Time.

Outside Kiss,

Frehley achieved

further commercial success

and popularity,

 with his 1978

eponymous debut

solo studio album

achieving platinum status.

 His 1987 eponymous

 debut studio album

with his

Frehley's Comet band

was also a big success.

Frehley is noted for

his aggressive,

atmospheric,

and melodic

guitar playing

and is also known for

the use of many

"special effects"

guitars, including a

 Gibson Les Paul guitar

 that emits smoke

from the neck

humbucker pickup

and produces

spinning pyrotechnics

and a custom

Les Paul that

emits light based

on song tempo.

Frehley was inducted into

 the Rock and Roll

 Hall of Fame

in 2014

as a member

 of Kiss.

Death

On September 25, 2025,

Frehley fell in his

 home studio

and was forced to

 cancel upcoming

 tour dates.

On October 16, 2025,

TMZ reported that

Frehley had been

on life support

 and a ventilator

due to brain bleeding

caused by his fall.

 They reported that his family

considered removing him

 from life support

after his health

 failed to improve.

Frehley died

 several hours later in

Morristown,

New Jersey,

at the age of 74.

Spaceman

 is the sixth

studio album

by American

guitarist

 Ace Frehley

 released on

 October 19, 2018.

The album features

 a guest appearance

from Frehley's

 former

 Kiss bandmate

 Gene Simmons

who also

 co-wrote

two tracks.

Album Information

Spaceman

features a reunion

of sorts with

 Frehley's former

Kiss bandmate

Gene Simmons,

who co-wrote

and played bass

 on the opener

 "Without You I'm Nothing".

He also co-wrote

"Your Wish Is My Command",

which Simmons

 intended for Kiss

 to record.

Simmons named

Spaceman.

"Rockin' with the Boys"

was mentioned as a

Frehley song title

for the upcoming

Kiss album

 (before Music from "The Elder")

 by Kerrang! magazine

 in 1981.

In a 2018 interview

 with Ken Sharp,

Frehley confirms

 that it is partly

 the same song:

 "I wrote the chorus for

“Rockin’ With The Boys”

in the ‘70s.

But I could never come up

with a good enough verse

and bridge to

 make it a

viable tune.

I experimented and had

 several versions of that."
